DID WE MENTION? STEEL-IT POLYURETHANE IS WELDABLE

PROFESSIONAL WELDERS TELL US THAT WORKING ON STEEL-IT IS LIKE WELDING ON BARE METAL

Professional welders are the ones who most doubt that welding on STEEL-IT is possible or that they’ll get a clean weld. But then they try it and they say it’s like nothing they’ve experienced. By the way, it feels like welding on bare metal because once they TIG or MIG and burn off the polyurethane resin, that’s all they’re left with, pure 316L stainless steel. Shop STEEL-IT weldable polyurethane, available in gray and black! If in doubt, get a free sample (in the US only) or request more information.

WELDING WITH STEEL-IT POLYURETHANE

STEEL-IT Polyurethane’s weldability is a most welcome benefit. Just ask the fabricators who save hours of time knowing that if they need to make a repair or add a tab, they don’t have to grind off STEEL-IT like they would with a paint or powder coating. Ask the architects and construction workers who can make a change in the field quickly and easily. And when they’re done welding, ask them how happy they are that they can use a handy aerosol can to touchup the area they just worked on. The fresh coat of STEEL-IT blends right in. Nothing looks patched. In fact, it looks like they never did any work at all.

WHAT CUSTOMERS SAY

"I had heard about STEEL-IT used in marine applications and wanted to try it. It has performed beyond our expectations; we really like the stuff. Because the stainless flakes are conductive, you can weld directly over it. Unlike powder coating, it is easy to see hairline fractures when they are small and repair them quickly. It’s easy to touch up areas after making repairs; it sprays on nicely with a medium thick coat that does not run like spray paint. After racing the Baja 1000, the parts we coated with STEEL-IT still looked like new. The Honda Ridgeline was a ground up build, many times, our customers have us build their vehicles in stages. STEEL-IT allows you to pick up right where you left off without having to grind paint or remove rust. We tig weld most of our work so it’s critical to have good surfaces to work with. When we weld over STEEL-IT, the welds are clean and strong.
